In-House Hard-of-Hearing Awareness Training (HOHAT) in the Workplace For Community, Education and Corporate Organisations

Our Hard of Hearing Awareness Training Workshops are packed full of information about hard of hearing people, workplace modifications, communication tactics and lip reading. The training will engage and entertain whilst providing an excellent working knowledge of Hard of Hearing Awareness.

DAT Trainer:

Our DAT workshops are delivered by Lisa Mills, a published author in deaf awareness and an experienced trainer fluent in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and Spoken English. Lisa’s recent credits include winning the ‘inspiring others to achieve’ award and cover star of Sensis’ White and Yellow Pages 2014 / 15 Sunshine Coast edition. And, guest presenting at the National Deaf Summit, which focused on current workplace issues for deaf people. The Summit was hosted by Deafness Forum Australia.

Venue: At the Organization’s nominated venue – throughout Australia only.

Investment: Please contact us for a price. Tax invoices will be issued for In-House Training. (This training maybe subsidised or fully funded by the Australian Government – please contact us for more information)

Workshop Duration:

Choose from any of the following:

  • 4-hours ‘All-Inclusive’ Workshop
  • 2-hours ‘Essentials’ (for organisations based in South East QLD only)
  • Or request a 4-hours ‘Customised’ Workshop

Workshop Learning Outcomes:

  1. Develop awareness of hard of hearing people in Australia
  2. Appreciate the psychological impact hearing loss has on HOH people in the workplace
  3. Examine different case studies about HOH in the workplace
  4. Learn about Lip-reading
  5. Explore ways to make workplace communication more accessible to HOH people
  6. Learn effective communication tactics to use with HOH to:
      • Improve communication and workflow with HOH staff
      • Avoid miscommunication and resolve conflicts with HOH staff
      • Strengthen relationships with HOH staff
  7. Know what modifications and services are available to support HOH people in employment
  8. Develop an action plan to support HOH staff in your workplace
  9. Discover 12 powerful communication methods everyone can benefit from in the workplace


Government Funding / Subsidy:
